seeking help for how to do indoor potty training for a 10 mo female puppy. Litter box or wee wee pads? what kind of litter is used? How to handle overnight - should a wee wee pad be in the crate or not? Can someone send some quick suggestions? Thanks for the help??
I prefer the litter box with pine pellets. Mine didn’t sleep in his ex pen at night, he sleeps in our room. He slept through the night after a few weeks but still occasionally woke up really early so we did add another potty tray upstairs at one point. Rarely used it but it prevented accidents at the top of the stairs when we couldn’t get outside fast enough!
I think you would start out with confinement to a small area, often with an expen.
At first the area would be just big enough for a sleeping area(crate) and a potty area. Most dogs will not pee where they eat or sleep so the hope is that they will go on the potty area. As they are successful doing this you would gradually enlarge the space and they should still go to the potty area. If they have accidents you have to make it smaller again and keep trying.
I just noticed the 10 month old part. Where is the puppy at as far as current potty training? Is the puppy started on indoor potty training in any way already?
