Will He Still Love Me ?

We finally decided it was too hot to drag Skye along with us to Vegas, Visalia, and Sacramento. So he is with a boarder. Now I'm worried that he is having so much fun he won't want to come home.

Once he sees and smells you he will go total crazy I bet.
We adopted Danny and every couple months we go visit the people we got him from and he knows exactly who they are and I think he even remembers the house rules. When it is time to go we just call him and he comes along we have never ever had a problem with him not wanting to go home. So I think you will get a great greeting and be pleasantly surprised.

Ken.

When we only had Kodi, we used to leave him with a trainer-friend when we went away. He LOVED going to her house, and joyfully entered. He also was thrilled to see me when we picked him up. We hadn’t seen her in a couple of years, because (now that we have three) it’s just easier to have someone stay here. We ran into her at a training fascility, and I thought he was going to turn himself inside out he was so happy to see her! They always remember their friends, but they ALSO know and love their family best. 😊

Oooh! That is so sweet!!

We went to visit friends in North Carolina with Zumba. They have two Havanese and a bigger dog. Zumba had so much fun playing with the other dogs during that stay, that I felt guilty when we got home. I felt like I needed to get her a play companion. Thankfully I repeatedly had Karen’s wise words in my head, “Get another dog for yourself, not for your dog”. So I refrained from calling up the breeder and asking her to put me on the list for next year. LOL!

Thanks for your reassurances. We were five years between dogs so I kind of forgot how much more loyal than humans that dogs are. LOL

My wife took the loss of our one and only other dog very hard. She was luke warm to say the least about getting Skye. Now she is bugging me to ask the boarder if we can FaceTime with Skye. Just yesterday she asked if I thought we should get a "sister" for Skye!! These little love bugs sure have a way of winning hearts.

I hear you there. My husband was very luke warm on getting a dog after we lost our other a few months before - he would have preferred to at least wait a year.. but after visiting the breeder and her dogs, he came away wanting 5. He's now down to wanting 3. LOL. We will see. My breeder already is asking if i want to go on the waiting list for her 2020 litter going home around April....

I thought of this thread yesterday. I took Denver over to visit his breeder since I had borrowed a book from her. I wondered if he’d be happy to leave his sister and “aunts and uncles” again after being with us for 2 weeks.

He had a blast. He played with his sister, ate all her food, integrated back into the pack and had a ball of a time. At one point we walked around the property and when Denver came to “check in” between play sessions, it was me he checked in with - not his breeder. He was also more than happy to curl up in his kennel to be put back in the car to go.

So you really should have no fear

A little late closing this out, but things have been very busy to say the least.

Arrived back to find Skye happy and healthy. The boarder was holding Skye in her arms when we went to pick him up. I think she was sad to see him go. He rode in Momma's lap for the short ride home. When we got to the house we left the patio door open in case he needed to pee. He danced around Momma's feet, did zoomies in the back yard, danced around Momma's feet, danced around my feet, zoomies in the back yard, and so on, and so on for the longest time. So YES, I think he still loves us!
