on the road to recovery (i hope!)

well, django is on the road to recovery. we had our first good poop yesterday, not perfect but better then what's been happening lately! he's eating ground turkey with canned food specific for Gastro issues. hopefully in the next 2 weeks he will be just on the canned and then slowly i can transition him to his regular canned.

Yay Django! I see you've been pampering him with great places to rest-that looks comfy. I hope he continues to improve.

Nothing like a good canned food. I guess I'm biased LOL Hoping for the best. Keep us up to date.

Aw, poor baby. I'm sending him tummy rubs. Fingers crossed that his recovery is quick.

Hi, I'm so happy Diango is better!
I was wondering how long he was not having good stools? I have the same problem going on with Maddie. And it started first with taking carprofen. I seem to remember you saying he was also taking something? I stopped giving it to her after 2 days mostly because she seemed better. I took her off her regular food last Tuesday and stoped all food for about 24 hr And have been feeding her rice and chicken breasts after that. I tried pumpkin and she turned her nose up to it. It seems to be the worst at night I am up with her about 4 times. It started pure liquid and has turned to mush I took a second stool sample yesterday and it came back fine.
She has a scheduled appointment this Wednesday to have her baby teeth pulled . About the same time the sisters got into the garbage and I had two bones from chicken breasts. For some stupid reason I did not look to see how much they got Now I am worried she might have a obstruction in her bowels so if she is not better by wed we are going to have a xray.
I have a bunch more to say but this is turning into a book . And this is your happy post
Again I am so glad he is better.

Maddie at 5mo old

i hope maddie gets better. django was on boiled chicken and rice for 3 weeks. it wasn't until i started him on the canned food specifically for dogs with G.I. issues on wednesday that his poop got better. i picked it up at the vet when we went for his monthly shot it's Purina EN for gastro issues. i think it has a bit more stuff in it and helps their system. up until then it was brown soft serve. (gross!)

i would stick with boiled chicken until the poop starts to look better. i switched to ground turkey just because it seemed easier for him to eat and it was easier for me to mush rice into it. stick with it for a bit longer. their little bellies are so sensative they need time to heal and no treats for a while.
