Follow up to post on indoor potty training

As I posted before, I plan to do indoor potty training with my 11 week old puppy (arriving this week!!). From everything that I have read, it is very important to keep the potty in the same spot in the house. But what happens if, and when, you have to take your puppy to a kennel or dog sitter because of travel and can't take your puppy with you (I have to be away for one week in 2 months)? How will this affect indoor potty training? I do not have a house sitter that can watch my dog. Has anyone had a situation like this? What was the outcome?

I think it would be important that if you must travel before you puppy has a firm grasp of potty training, that the care giver be willing to continue the indoor training for you. Once they are fully trained, as long as the care giver provides the indoor potty spot (which you can bring along) and shows the dog where to find it, I have had absolutely no trouble.

In reality, most caregivers get the dogs outside to potty often enough that they rarely use their indoor potty. (Since that is their job)

Thanks for your reply.

I decided to board my pup for that week while I am away with a dog trainer, who will continue to do indoor potty training and more. It iwill be an expense, but at least I will feel more comfortable.
