Potty training success
We find it very weird that our two new foster puppies' potty training progress went from 0% to 90%. We received them 3 weeks ago and they were 4 months old at that point. Potty training at 0%. We keep them in two connected x-pen, one to sleep in, one to potty in. We let them out to play every few hours and after they eat. Every time they seem like they need to go, we would bring them to the potty x-pen and reward them when they do. When they do accident (they always seem to the second we turn our eyes away), we bring them to the potty x-pen and make them stay there for 1-2 mins. Over the next 2 weeks, they continue to have accidents on the floor. We were starting to get really frustrated at their progress. We would wait till after they ate and they already peed/pooped before letting them out but still accidents. Then 1 night, they were both playing and running around and one of them dashed into the potty x-pen, peed just a little, and ran back out to play. We were so proud! After that night, they have been at about 90% success rate. We are so puzzled what made the whole thing click for them.
Funny thing is that after they are now almost 100% potty trained, one of them will be adopted in 2 days and the other one is pending for adoption.
