This came through my FaceBook feed today, and I KNOW some of these photos are from forum members, though I don't know whether the members are current on the forum. If they are yours, or you know who took them, can you pass this info on, and make sure the owners gave permission for the photos to be used, because I'm betting they did not.

No! Not right at all but it is a cool throw or whatever it is. I know there are a lot of photos on the web. In fact, I just Googled "havanese photos" and saw the photo of the dog with the pink ball in it's mouth that is on this throw. And I think somewhere I've seen that photo on the throw in the lower left corner of the dog that's running/leaping. It might have been on one of my havanese calendars at one time. So I wonder if you can just use any of these photos that pop up on these search engines.

No, you can't. Just because something shows up in an internet search does not give anyone the right to use it for commercial gain. It still belongs to the maker unless the maker gives away their rights to that photo. I am a professional photographer, so this is something I'm very familiar with. It happens all the time, but it isn't legal without permission.

That is flat out infuriating! Have you shared this on your FB page? Oh, it just makes me so mad! This is also happening in the quilting world, with this (Chinese?) company copying photos of peoples' private quilts and selling them as blankets.

Thieves!

On my personal page? Not sure how many people I'd reach that way. I'll put it on Fluffy Butts! 😉

This strikes me as strange, even for Facebook ads. With all of the resources available to graphic designers, there are tons of inexpensive and even royalty free images out there, not to mention most phones can take pictures of better quality than most of the pictures that come up from basic searches. I could be wrong, but it even looks like the background might be a stock photo, which makes it even more strange that the images on the quilt itself aren’t. I just remember seeing a bundle of similar background images recently for staging Etsy type sales. Then there are the two different websites in the ad. I hope it isn’t a scam of some kind.

I'm a Hobbyist Photographer and if you put photos out on the Internet there's a few ways you can protect your photos from being used. Watermarking, Low Resolution photos, Copyrighting helps. Although, it might be time consuming it's easy to remove watermarks if you're well acquainted with PS. Small Low Res Web Photos can't be increased in size to make a good quality printable product, however, they can be digitally used on Web Sites.

The photos used on the Sherpa Blanket are all over the Internet and can be purchased at ShutterStock.com.

Dogtee purchased these photos for their commercial products and are legit.
