Zoey taps the cute kibble bin that is in the floor next to the food dishes in the evening and I give her a few bits of kibble, not every evening, so I consider it her stressful day comfort eating. She will bark at an empty water bowl. This brings up one of my favorite things a dog that has been trained using "Puppy Culture" does. It is called "Manding" and they get in a position where you can see them (between you and television or as close as possible when you are on a computer) and make steady, direct eye contact. Eye contact is not a dog's favorite thing, remember. I call this the "Timmy has fallen in the well" Lassie move. Zoey loves to let me know Kosmo is in trouble. By "trouble" I mean he has a shoe, hair tie, sock or the best chew in the house (Zoey's chew, of course) and I need to intervene. And, I do intervene, except over a chew. First I laugh, and then I treat. So, if you want a house "narc": praise in the form of laughter, and then treat. I think Zoey thinks she is "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel".
