Color changes!

I thought it might be fun to see pups and if/ how their colors changed at different ages!

What fun! Oliver is SUCH a prretty boy in ALL his colors! I’d play, but it would be pretty boring, since none of mine changed colors! LOL!

I’m glad he didn’t change entirely, mostly because I’ve always loved his face markings. Kinda like a black dog, he doesn’t get tear stains. The breeder thought him and his brother had similar temperaments and would be about 10-11 lbs (she was right about his size!) She had a sable female who was tiny (7 lbs she thought as an adult). Maybe we would consider a girl from her in the future when my youngest is a bit older. We definitely thought that was too tiny for us w kids at this point. We’d never had a dog. They’ve been trained to be gentle NOW, lol.
But I was very attracted to his even markings! I am happy they probably won’t turn completely white. I love the genetics of these dogs. When you think about it, humans are similar. My oldest kids have gone super blonde to light brown 🙂

I’m a sucker for symmetrical marking too! <3

One year of Chuy's color changes

I'll play! Here is a year in the life of my big 25 lb Chuy! First haircut at the one year. (Side note: His dad is 15 lb, mom is 13 lb. and 5 siblings about the same.) He's a loveable, goofball who is just too darn smart. Keeps me on my toes, but I wouldn't trade him for the world! Just want to add that this forum has helped me immensely while searching for tips this past year. While searching the forum to figure out how I got such a big guy I've come to realize that Havanese are very diverse breed. Arizona type maybe? LOL!

Molly started out pure white and black. She has changed through the years due to her Belton markings. Her back end has a noticeable ashy look to it now. Also, the black hair on her head has a lot of white hair mixed in with it now.

Awww, he’s a cutie! Yes, sometimes they surpass both parents in size! Kodi’s parents are not as large (neither is Kodi) but a similar thing happened. His parents, is I remeber corectly, were 11 and 13 lbs, and Kodi is 17 lbs! He is within standard, at 11 1/2”, but at the very top. We call him our “lap and a half” Havanese and love every inch of him! <3
