It's been a few months since Skye and I have been here. After an Oddysey that started in October we have finally completed our move from the Seattle area to West Sacramento. Still lots of things to do in the new house, but we are settled in and the place is starting to look and feel like home.
Skye has adapted well. This place is over three times as large as our house in Arlington. He knows to go to the back door for potty even if he is upstairs at the far end of the house. We were in a single level house before and the staircase has proven to be a delight for him. He loves bouncing up and down the stairs.
I "think" we have a Vet. We met her Monday for yearly wellness check and his adult rabies shot. I was looking for a holistic Vet that wouldn't be pushing unnecessary vaccinations. She is quite the other end of the spectrum. Said we could do titters for everything including rabies! I told her I want to be "legal" so I can get him licensed. My nephew here has paid some hefty fines for unlicensed dogs after his two got out of the yard a few times. The Vet said "Don't worry about that. Skye is so cute whoever finds him will keep him, you won't get fined".
She is supposed to be tracking down a good surgeon for us. Skye is bilateral cryptorchid with only one teste outside the abdominal cavity. So the surgeon will have to go searching for the other one. There goes the savings account.
A great thing about this area is all the public access areas. There are miles and miles of trails through the neighborhoods, through the countless parks, and along the river and canals. Skye didn't get the attention he deserved while we we so busy with the move, so he is really enjoying our discovery walks.
It's great to be back and I hope to be able to participate a lot more now that we have settled in.
