Writing a (short) e-book. Need your help!!!

I need your help! Based on my experience of losing my dog a couple of years ago to cancer, I’ve decided to write a children’s e-book in an effort to help children cope when they lose a beloved pet.

There’s a whole long story behind it and I know this may sound crazy but Roxie (the dog I lost) gave me “signs” after she passed encouraging me to write. (That’s a whole other book in itself). I promise I'm not a wacko...I'm not saying she came to me after she died...it's more like little signs she gave me like the day after she passed I went to the bookstore (I didn't want to go to an empty house) and as I was walking down an isle a book literally fell off the shelf. When I went to pick it up it was a story about a dog (mind you, I wasn't in the pet section). Then when I went to checkout there was a whole display of books about dogs. People have told me all of my life that I need to write, and I think that along with a couple other "signs" she gave me has inspired me to do this.

Soooo….long story short, I’m writing this with the intention of making it into an e-book that I might sell online somehow. Or I might allow an pet grief website to post it for free. But what I want to do is get any feedback you might have about how I can improve it. I’m going to hire an art student from our local college to illustrate it so I want to make sure the wording is right before I start that process.

I’m completely serious when I say I want your opinion (good or bad) and I promise my feelings won’t get hurt. All suggestions are welcome!!!

Thanks in advance feedback you can give me. (Oh, and when you are reading it, you’ll see a box in each page with writing in it…that’s where a picture will go).

I tried to attach the word file to this posting, but it exceeds the allowed size limit. And I've spent the last hour trying to figure out how to share it online but I can't figure it out. So if you want to read the book (in word format) I guess I can email you the document (just let me know your email address). Or if anyone knows how to post the word document online to share then let me know.

I am a writer and have written for many years, so if I can help in any way, holler. PM me with the link or send it to [email protected]

BTW, I don't think you're crazy.

Thanks pjewel!!! Although I am a little intimidated by your experience. I'll email it to you right now. There's not a whole lot to it...more of a children's picture picture with words.

Christie, I wrote you a whole long email, then just when I went to click send, I got kicked out. After getting kicked out twice I gave up. I'll write it again tomorrow and send it along, either via email or I'll pm you. Sorry!

I hate to hear that pjewel...but thanks for trying again today. Doesn't it always seem like the emails you spend the most time on are the ones that don't go through?

I was thinking that maybe you could also find some children maybe a like a 5th grade class to study your book and have group discussion on it. I have a niece who loves to write stories she would be the type of kid who would be great to give some in put on what A child would like.
