I know that dogs are individuals, but for those who use treats in training your Havanesies, what absolutely knocks your dog’s socks off?
My Hashi loves Zuke’s minis, but I’m looking for other ideas to start to train a recall. Thank you!

Willow likes Zuke's minis also. However, she absolutely loves Honest Kitchen Wishes Fish Filets. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Plus, they are easily broken into smaller pieces.

Cheese is Denver’s #1. I mix it with Benny bullies or Zukes though and use the mix for his classes since too much cheese wouldn’t exactly be healthy.

Syke's absolute favorite is chicken breast that I cut into treat sized pieces and then pat with a paper towel to get as much fat and moisture out as possible. Most other things are positively scrumptious one day and totally disgusting the next. That includes freeze dried boar, freeze dried beef liver, freeze dried green tripe. Green tripe is the funniest. One day he will keep pawing at my leg after a training session to get more tripe. The next time I get it out he will pick up the piece I give him, throw it as far as he can, and run the other way.

I have tried different Zuke's minis at different times and he has never eaten a one.

Cheddar is normally what we have at home. I cut it into tiny pieces (size of about 1/2 a pea).

My trainer introduced me to True Chews which are made with real sirloin steak.

I also wanted to say that I get a lot of bang for my buck with Wellness Soft Wellbites. I can cut a square into 48 tiny cubes! They're not the highest value treat out there, but Shama likes them more than she likes her kibble, and puppies would definitely work for them.
Mikki likes this.

So many choices! Thank you for weighing in. The trainer I consulted doesn’t have a Havanese but he buys chicken, grills it and cuts it up as treats for his own dogs. My puppy has started to act as if what I’m eating is meant for her. The outraged barks when she’s denied!
I have lots of ideas now. Thanks to all of you!
