What “high value” treats have you had success with?

I know that dogs are individuals, but for those who use treats in training your Havanesies, what absolutely knocks your dog’s socks off?
My Hashi loves Zuke’s minis, but I’m looking for other ideas to start to train a recall. Thank you!

Syke's absolute favorite is chicken breast that I cut into treat sized pieces and then pat with a paper towel to get as much fat and moisture out as possible. Most other things are positively scrumptious one day and totally disgusting the next. That includes freeze dried boar, freeze dried beef liver, freeze dried green tripe. Green tripe is the funniest. One day he will keep pawing at my leg after a training session to get more tripe. The next time I get it out he will pick up the piece I give him, throw it as far as he can, and run the other way. :frusty:

I have tried different Zuke's minis at different times and he has never eaten a one.

My trainer introduced me to True Chews which are made with real sirloin steak.

I also wanted to say that I get a lot of bang for my buck with Wellness Soft Wellbites. I can cut a square into 48 tiny cubes! They're not the highest value treat out there, but Shama likes them more than she likes her kibble, and puppies would definitely work for them.

So many choices! Thank you for weighing in. The trainer I consulted doesn’t have a Havanese but he buys chicken, grills it and cuts it up as treats for his own dogs. My puppy has started to act as if what I’m eating is meant for her. The outraged barks when she’s denied!
I have lots of ideas now. Thanks to all of you!

I use "Train-Me" treats ( crazydog.com ) for Ricky. Each piece is the size of a pea and is 3 calories each. They come in several flavors. They are produced in Azuza, Ca, just down the road from me.

Ricky goes nuts over them. I will use 1, 2, or 3+ depending on the training exercise. Through experimentation and advice from krandall, I found that sometimes I was not using enough of a treat on a particular exercise to reinforce the desired result. Now that I am more generous, training goes more smoothly and quickly.

Ricky's Vet recommended that we avoid cheese at all times. Cheese is likely to cause Pancreatitis if over administered. Treatment for pancreatitis can run into the thousands of dollars and even death in some severe cases. He said, certainly small amounts of cheese on an infrequent basis will not harm your dog. The problem he said is that dog owners often lose track of how much cheese they are giving and give too much. He refused to say how much is "too much." He said it depends on the breed, size, age, health, anatomy of an individual dog and his recommendation will vary. He said the easiest way to be safe is just not give any cheese.

Willow loves these too. I get her the Crazy Dog Mini Treats - Bacon flavor.
