Covid19 and Grooming?

Today I have an appointment for Toby;s grooming at his Vets office..they told me that they are all wearing masks...but I am worried about Toby himself....wanted to know if all of you are taking your pups for grooming? Please share your thoughts and experience?

I take Ricky into the groomer twice a week (for a minimum of a brushout). In fact he went in yesterday. I am more careful than most with precautions for the virus because I am vulnerable at least two ways (age and underlying health issue). Our groomer has enforced very strict guidelines - the office is locked no human client can go inside, the staff wears masks, the interior of the building is completely sanitized at least once a day. When we arrive we text them. I put Ricky in an outside safe pen and stand at a distance with mask and gloves on. A staff member comes outside with mask and gloves and retrieves him. We leave. When he is ready to pick up, they text us and the process is repeated in reverse. I feel safe and this has been going on for almost three months now with no problems. i certainly feel safer than at the grocery store where it is the wild west in terms of others following guidelines. YMMV.

Shadow is going in today for his first groom in almost 4 months. I am not worried.
My groomer works alone, one dog in at a time, no one is allowed in but her and the dog. She will be wearing a mask and will take him from me at the door. I will exchange the check for the dog when she opens the door. She keeps her very small shop immaculately at any time, not just now, cleaning the tub, table between dogs.

I tend to worry about things, but not about this. I have gone to this groomer for 17 years(with my previous dog too) so I feel good about things.

From my understanding of your post: You are worried about Toby getting COVID. It's very rare for an animal to get COVID and as far as anyone knows a dog wouldn't pass on to a human. There's lots of things to worry about but this is one I would put to rest.

Take Toby to the groomers and enjoy taking him home all clean and pretty.

The Vet's and Groomer's office staff are wearing masks to protect themselves from each other and pet owners...as are the groomers.
