New HavaBaby -- Meet Rey

Hooray!! I am now a HavaMommy and am thrilled! We brought Rey home yesterday. She is 6 months old and the sweetest little pup. She is getting braver by the minute, exploring the house and getting comfortable with the stairs, figuring out where her food and crate are. There are so many new noises here! The clock chimes, the sliding door, birds chirping. She loves to lay flat in the grass.

WOW, a Ricky Ricardo lookalike! Welcome aboard Rey. I think she will settle in quickly, just hold her a lot and reassure her. Rolling in the grass is a dog thing. A trainer told me once that laying and rolling in the grass is instinctual for dogs. It is a way to take on another animal's odor from the grass (from an old potty spot for instance) so they can sneak up on that animal more easily as prey. i don't know if that is true, but I find it an interesting theory. There are so many interesting things to learn about animal behavior that it can consume all your time if you let it.

CONGRATULATIONS!

SO happy for you! You are going to have a blast with that funny gal. She is an absolute delight.

Here are some photos from her time with me. Enjoying soaking up attention while in the call center at the clinic I work at during one of her tagalong days and her playing show dog! I'll have to get some videos put up privately on YouTube to share here

Oooh, I wish there was a LOVE button. Such cute pix of her -- thanks for sharing. Yes, we'd love to see the videos. The best part is that she is bonding with our 16 yo daughter who could really use the boost right now. Rey is following her around like, well, a puppy dog!

Thank you. We were trying to come up with a Spanish name because it's a Cuban breed, but so many Spanish words are multi-syllabic. Rey is a nod to Spanish royalty (not the right gender, I know). And there's more...Ray is a main character on one of my daughter's old favorite TV shows, my husband and son love Star Wars (Rey Skywalker), and I am a geometry teacher (ray is a fundamental structure).
