Nightly Game

When we have puppies, after they are about 6 weeks old, they spend the last hour, or so of the day, before they crash, running free in the house to burn energy, and get really tired. That lets them sleep soundly for the night.

Pam, and I usually eat cereal at night. When we go to the kitchen to get the cereal, we sprinkle some plain Cheerios on the floor, and it's a grand free for all for the dogs to get as much as they can. They think it's great, and learn quickly that any time lost arguing, means that they get less.

The puppies are free to join in, and they love it too. The first couple of nights, typically, they will grab one piece, and run off to eat it. They soon learn that results in there being none left when they come back for more. By the third night, they're in as big a hurry as the adults, as they all bounce off of each other, with puppies scurrying about under the adult dogs.

Sorry the picture is dark. This is the best my old phone could do.

This is so cute! I eat Cheerios, berries and yogurt every night, and Oliver and I have a ritual where I share a few Cheerios with him before bed. Your pups look like they’re having so much fun!

That is a sweet herd of hungry Havanese!
When I read Tom's posts about the puppies, I feel bad that my Shadow has such a dull life with me. The videos of the litters playing makes me wonder how these little bundles ever adapt to life as a solitary dog but they do, I guess. They certainly seem to enjoy playing as a group.

With our blueberry bushes in full force at the moment, the routine is that Dave and Kodi go up the hill to pick. They come back with two Talenti ice cream containers full. One is for freezing, the other is for eating or cooking. ...But FIRST a BIG handful has to be scattered on the kitchen floor for the nightly blueberry hunt! (which Kodi takes part in as if he HADN'T already had a bunch up by the bushes...)
