I'd love to do squarespace too! But part of what we do (brother and I) are websites for other people and we are needing to redo them and ours as well (unless covid ruins our main business completely which it looks like it will likely) so I am having to stay with wordpress. Ugh.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!! She really was. I got her as a young dog when she was dumped at an animal shelter drop off kennel during the night. Someone threw away an AMAZING little girl and I'm so thankful she chose me.

I'd love to see more photos of JoJo and all three of them!

Wow so many circles we passed through! We left Ferndale in 1977. We lived at 883 Slater Rd. We build that house I was 8 at the time.
I love that you saved the deer mice!! My Jessie (Longhaired doxie) found a baby one at a park. It's eyes weren't even open yet. We took him home and I fed him kitten formula and put him on a heating pad thinking he wouldnt make it. But he did and lived with us for 7 years! I named him Ralph. When I had to have him put down due to old age we found out Ralph was a girl! Messed with my head. LOL.

Ferndale huh? I was there for a while in 1980😋 ...and one summer I lived in a trailer on a friends property and none of my other friends would visit. There was a nest of baby deer mice and they were so cute! I wasnít about to kill them, I was moving a week after that anyway. Where have you been all my life Dee Dee? Oh, what a minute, I already know the answer😆
I love Hallieís logo! Sophie is so incredibly blessed to have such a dedicated mommy, you are an inspiration.

Hey Faithb, how is Desiís potty training progressing?

Be consistant and don't give Desi run of the house unsupervised until potty trained. It will pay off! It took Sophie about 2 weeks to be pretty reliable with the occasional accident for a few months after which were always my fault!

Faithb, it took Jodiemabout 3 months before we put the pads away permanently. It is advantageous to have multiple dogs in general training. With Cotton, I continuously took him to the door and helped him ring the bell. Then we showered him with praise and a tiny treat. I did it all day not just when it was time to go out. I canít remember how many days I did that but Cotton did start ringing it himself and I gradually cut back and became ridiculously joyful when he rang it at potty time. I told him he was the best and smartest dog that has ever existed! It was really helpful to transition that skill to a bell on our bedroom door. It seems like an eternity while training but now I hardly remember it. We had weather issues also, itís hard when you and your dog are drenched after 30 seconds. The process doesnít have to be perfect and neither do you. Desi will get there and then you can help someone else along the way😋

I'm glad we didn't try the bells as I've heard of dogs who just ring them to get attention. Whenever DH and I are watching a little too much TV, Shama is a little minx who scratches at the sliding glass door (the only exit to the deck and down the stairs to the back yard where she potties) so that we come and open it for her, then she takes a little whiff of the outside air and backs away. We want to reinforce that scratching to signal she wants to go outside is good, so we open the door to let her go out, but it's kind of annoying when it's just, "Psyche! Made you tear yourself away from the TV! I don't really have to go out!" DH and I are very well trained.

We are definitely well trained😆 Jodie doesnít ring the bell for fun anymore but I swear she talks to Cotton when sheís bored and gets him to ring it for her!

I didnít start the bell until mine was pretty reliably trained already. I want to say 14 months? I remember when I got out Christmas ornaments, I was specifically keeping an eye out for a bell. But we might have started earlier and I was just looking for a better bell, I canít keep anything straight anymore!

I do remember how we trained. All we did is push the bell every time we took him out. I think we did show him how to do it with a paw and his nose, but I did not expect it. Eventually he started doing it himself when we took him outside. He was still on a potty schedule, I didnít wait for him to ring it. The first time he tried to ring it on his own, I could barely hear it! The bell was a little stiff. But it was really exciting.

Dee Dee, rescues make wonderful pets! My girl Annie was the sweetest, smartest, most well behaved dog I have ever owned. It is shameful how some people mistreat their pets and dump them off but lucky for us we both got these amazing girls.
