Yes, Limited Registration for pets, who can't be bred and register offspring.

We don't have time to mentor new breeders, so we only give Full Registration to breeders we work with, like Izzie's breeder, who share fully our ideas, and ideals.

By being careful with who gets Full Registration, there is zero chance any puppy in a puppy mill will ever have a Starborn dog in any of their pedigrees.

For example: Rooney is a Starborn dog. Michele got him with Full Registration because we fully trust Michele to do the right thing with him.

A lot of show people do co-owner stuff, but we stopped that long ago.

Yes Tom, Izzie is one of Rooney's and Maple's puppies. You will have some beautiful puppies. Izzie is aka Sunflower.

Patti came with a Limited Registration, micro chipped and the breeder filed the AKC papers. There was no requirement that we have her spayed. I don't know how breeders enforce that requirement but we had her spayed after her first heat. That entertaining event wasn't one we wanted to do again.

IMO...if the dog is a pet there's little reason for a Limited AKC registration unless you want a microchip which you may or may not be useful.

As I recall, our breeder helped us register Shama. She either gave us the paperwork or told us what to do. Shama was sold to us as a pet. We never intended to show or breed her.

If the breeder is an AKC Breeder of Merit, and continues to be, all puppies they produce have to be AKC registered.

Yes, I was thinking about this. If I were a breeder, I would be quite upset if someone had one of my puppies and did not register the puppy I put my heart and soul into producing! I know that some breeders do this for the puppy owners, just to make sure it gets done. Panda's breeder does... maybe partially because she did not yet have her "breeder of merit" standing when Panda's litter was whelped. (it was her first litter)
