Hello everyone! I have been watching this forum since we got our beautiful Mocha! He will be 2 in March, and I decided to finally join. I appreciate all the info I have gotten over the last 2 years.
I am now thinking about getting another Havanese. My concern is although Mocha does not dislike other dogs, she really prefers people. Do you think he would adapt to another member of the family?

Welcome to the Forum!

Yes....Mocha will adapt. It may be rough in the beginning, but they will work things out for themselves. When I brought Jack home....I could hardly wait for Jack to put on weight so he could defend himself.

Welcome to the forum!

Mocha is just adorable!! My Sissy is an only furbaby and she prefers people but when we are around other dogs she does adapt (after a while).

I love Mocha's hair cut. Everyone needs two or three or four..... They adapt fast. For me adding a second has been great. Our first has loved her from the get go.

Hi and

Gucci is an only child, too and also prefers people to other dogs, and probably the only reason why I don't have another one, is because I think she won't adapt well and would probably be pout if she had to share attention with another puppy or dog, I've had people tell me they will adapt, eventually, but I worry still.

Welcome Jan. I think your odds are 10 to 1 in favor of getting the OK here.

Mocha is stunning. I always thought Ditto liked being the only dog in our home and loves people and children the most. Last spring I decided to get a playmate for Ditto. It took him a few months to accept Phoenix in his territory. Phoenix gives Ditto a hard time and tries to be top dog but they have become best buds. I wish now I had gotten a 2nd sooner so they would be closer in age, Ditto is 5/ Phoenix is 1.
Good Luck in you decision.

Mom to Phoenix too

My Riley was never big about socializing with other dogs, but I got another Hav two weeks ago. Riley fell in love with her as soon as he saw her and they are now inseparable. I cannot believe how well they get along and how much fun they have together. So I say GO FOR IT!!!
