Hello everyone,
I wanted to say how much I appreciate you. I’ve been thinking about all of us at a Thanksgiving table and how interesting and fun it would be. We all have distinct personalities that are intertwined with our common love of Havanese-our babies. Ed and I have families of a similar template. Our differences are respected and honored because none of us can phathom our lives without each other.
Shortly after I joined the forum we thought JoJo wasn’t going to make it through the night let alone the following week. Thank goodness for Gabapentin. I posted the next day and received a full page of condolences. Several of you were clear that my neighbor was out of line with her sarcastic remark “For God’s sake Teresa you have 2 other dogs.” Her comment faded quickly as I read all your posts.
I had no idea how much I didn’t know prior to June 2020. The forum is a place where we can ask any question, even about 💩However, it’s not just a cerebral platform. There are genuinely caring people on the other side of the posts. That has been abundantly clear with Nora’s loss. We love and grieve our babies and it’s okay.
I was delighted when I quickly realized I would NEVER hear “Teresa you’re too obsessed with Havanese and those dogs of yours.” Now, I retort with “It’s okay, I have found my people.” Whether you’re an elder (all star) or a newbie I thank you for your posts, pictures and presence on the forum. What a wonderful bunch of weirdos we are!😋
(Life should be lived with an open heart and quick wit for love and humor can dissolve most any barrier).

This nearly brought me to tears. So well said! I am constantly in awe of everyone’s generosity and kindness on this forum. Thank you to all for being so supportive, caring, open-minded, and endlessly helpful! I feel lucky to be here and you all inspire me to be better.

I have been on this forum for 6 years now and I still learn something new about Havanese and dogs in general every week!

Thank you for your insight. I have met only one person on this forum, face to face. That is even better than just reading their postings! And their dogs were over the top GREAT. My dream is to organize some regional meet-ups for HF members and their dogs once this nasty virus is under control.

Me too! That would be amazing Popi, Ed and I would (will) absolutely come wherever it is. Dee Dee (Sophie) is only 2 hours north of us so we both want to get together when life is more open. We travel the I-5 corridor to see family in Seattle and Bellingham. Owners get dogs that represent themselves so I guess that makes us all friendly, sociable smarty pants😆

I’m thankful for this forum and I love the way you expressed it. I was pretty isolated even before covid because of DS and getting a Havanese (which was supposed to be for DS but is really my Havanese now) brought so much joy into my life. I’m thankful to have this resource of many people and perspectives that helps me continually learn and reevaluate.

I am very thankful for everyone here too because I never have to worry about hearing these words " it's only a dog".

No dog can replace another one and my girls are an important part of my family and life. When my adult children get consumed in their lives, I can always count on the love and companionship Khloe and Izzie provide me. I recalled when my Bichon, Kirby died. I was crying in the vet's office and whaling how much I would miss her and how when my kids were too busy my Kirby was always there. 3 years later and I still remember that day. My heart still hurts.

Each dog has its own special place in our lives and I am grateful to have people here who understand this. Dogs give us unconditional love and they deserve the same.

So during this time, in spite of everything else we can be thankful for each other's support and our wonderful dogs.

I will add MY thanks for this great group too! I came to this group 12 years ago, looking to find out more about Havanese. I found my first breeder (the Kings) and got my first, WONDERFUL, dog, Kodi, as a result of the forum. There have not been many days since then that I haven't at least checked in! It is "home" and SO many people have become friends. I have met a number of people in person, but not NEARLY enough! I'd love to be able to give you ALL hugs!!!

Well it’s not “only a dog” in this house! After bringing Jodie home my mantra became “No grandchildren? No problem, get a puppy!” 😋
