Constipation

Poor Eva got into a bin of kitty jerky treats last night. I thought I caught her before she ate too many but now this morning she's pretty constipated.

I managed to get her to eat a bit of canned pumpkin but so far that hasn't helped too much. Now she's laying in her crate looking miserable

Any other home remedy suggestions? I kind of want to avoid taking her straight to the vet since she has an appointment with them tomorrow anyway. Although last time they vaccinated her it definitely loosened her bowels the next few days so maybe I'd kill two birds with one stone if I brought her in today haha.

Poor thing, I just couldn't take her crying anymore. I moved up her vet appointment to this morning. Now I just have to wait until 8:30 rolls around

Aww I'm so sorry to hear this. Nutrical helped us when Ninja was constipated. It's good that you moved up the appointment since she was so sad, let us know what happens.

I'm posting a little too late but there is something we have used for our dogs for years called Laxatone that comes in a tube and looks like really thick dark honey. It is also for cats who get furballs. We buy it at the vet's office. Abby never has a problem (so far) so we will probably need to get a new tube! Our dogs would like it off our fingers and if they wouldn't you can just wipe it onto their lips and they will lick it off!

Ahh yeah I know that stuff. We used to have it for our cat when I was a kid because she'd get really bad hairballs. I'll have to pick some of that up next time I'm at the pet store.

We just got back from the vet. He said she's looking really good and totally healthy. He couldn't find anything funky going on in her intestines so he thinks her system was just being overactive from the initial constipation and is now doing a lot of work for nothing. He gave me some medicine and said to come back if she stops eating. But as soon as we got home she scarfed down her breakfast so I'm thinking she's feeling better

That is good news! Glad the Vet could take her today. Did she poop yet?

Zoey has problems sometimes she goes and then keeps trying happens about once or twice a week. I had my vet teach me how to tell if her anel glands are full . He even taught me how to extract if needed. He said a good sign that the glands are full or what ever they do is your pup will drag his but on the ground. Your trivia for the day!

Probiotics, The stuff is great, I buy capsules and sprinkle some on her food every day, it really helps keep everything regular down there and butt baths are a thing of the past (on most days)

They don't work overnight, but you see results in a few days.

My daughter gives her beagles green beans and it helps with constipation. Hope Eva feels better.
