For sure! Whimsy has a wonderful cushy life with people who adore her!
The wagging tail and licks she gives us says it all!!

My Java is an "only-Hav" and this is something I think about a lot! I wish I could just ask him whether or not he'd be happier with a brother or sister, ha ha. He is 2.5 yrs, so I think if we did get another, we'd get an adult dog so that they had similar energy levels.

The way I see it, the whole "one Havanese is just not enough" thing does not apply. He is enough for me. It sure seems like we are enough for him, too : ) Of course, it helps that he has lots of buddies in the neighbourhood so lots of opportunities for play, including a sweet Hav who lives across the courtyard.

i think now at 7 years old, he loves being an only child. however, if i could do it all over again, i would definately get 2 Havs. we had thought a about when he was a puppy but time slipped away and now, i would not consider it.

I feel the same. Actually personally I prefer to have only one dog. He truly is enough for me, but I'm questioning weather I'm enough for him too. I like our one on one relationship, and feel so strongly bonded with him, that I'm afraid another dog would change that somehow. But I want him to be happy more then anything else. And if that means another dog... If he could only talk for a minute!

How does he do at play dates, dog parks, or training classes? I think that helps you decide also. Of course it is not the same as having another dog even a HAV come into HIS domain!!! You might just give him extra classes or training where he has a chance to be with other dogs, or play dates, if you have the opportunity. Although I want another, I have always loved two dogs, I feel if you work with them in training, and stimulate their minds, you both are happier. JMHO...I wish Sir Winston could talk to...I guess what I am trying to say is I feel few of us tap into the potential of the dog...

That is so sweet - he looks a lot like my Logan. As you can see from MY profile - I never thought one, or two or three was enough. I love the little relationships that they have with each other.
But at 7 - it might be the best for your pup! And if YOU yourself say one is enough - then one should be enough. YOu dont want to take on another that you might resent later on.
He really is gorgeous!

I had planned on two Havs when I first got my first pup. When Dexter was wearing me out, I needed a playmate for Dexter. It was lots for work for me to get a second Hav, but well worth it. The 2nd Hav (Jack) is so much easier than the first one....just like a second child...you know what to do and expect.

I love the interaction between Dexter and Jack....and love the different personalities.

If you are happy with one Hav and Fedja is getting enough exercise, stay with one.., but if you want a change in your household dynamics, go for another, but get ready for the work!

IDK. Lizzie hates it when my mom's pom is here and we don't like her personality when he is here either. She is constantly after him. She will not let him eat and heaven forbid if he wants to play with her toys. She always seems on edge. As soon as he is gone she is our sweetie again. She loves the little yorkie-bear down the street, but they only see each other a few times a week on walks and they have fun. He is not living with her. At obedience class she totally avoids the big dogs and has minimal interest in the little dog there. So I guess my answer is "yes" i think she likes being an only dog child. We have 4 cats and she will try to play with them. Clare's statement rings true for Lizzie as she is not super active and maybe is turning into an old woman and maybe another of the same breed would change that. I would like another, but don't want her acting the way she does when Preston is here. Both of my female cats would probably love to be only cats, but that is not what happened
