Micro Chipping

Has anyone had any problems with micro chipping your dog? I was going to do this with Sir Winston and am reading some disturbing conversation about the cons on another list. Is tatooing better or Microcipping?

...Whimsy is chipped. I worked as a vet tech for years and never saw any problems with microchips.

When we got Ruffles from the shelter she was already micro chipped. Haven't seen any negative affects at all. As a matter of fact I'm not even sure where they put it. I haven't seen any scars or evidence of it and she was shaved pretty close when we first brought her home.

I had Stella chipped almost immediately and she's never had a problem with it.

no problems with Tillie's microchipping either. She was chipped when she was spayed.

Augie was microchipped at his neuter. So far, no problems. The vet checked to see if it was still in place at his last checkup and it was. Have you heard of problems at the time of insertion or that it causes health problems down the road? I had heard that sometimes they can migrate.

No problems, here. I actually had to have her chipped for a certificate to travel outside of the US, but she's been fine and the chip is so tiny!

I saw a customs' guy in Turks and Caicos actually scan her for it and her # came up, really kinda cool, they do work

all mine are chipped- no problems. Vana was just done about a month ago.( If her original owner had her chipped I would have been able to return her.) The only health thing I have heard is the migration. Drake is almost 7 and I still feel it slightly sometimes. I have heard about custody issues where horrible things have been done so the dog couldn't be identified due to the chip being taken out. I don't have any tatoos but have heard they hurt like heck and there is a healing time that is needed.
