Question EGGS!Who gives them to their pups?

How often do you serve them? How do you prepare them? Are they used as a treat or are they really necessary?
(i think this may have already been asked,if so,I apologize for asking again)

My dogs love eggs. I normally scramble them and serve them for breakfast after the Saturday morning bath.

The good thing about giving your Havanese Eggs is that they have a naturally low choletorol level so they don't bother them. I hear that the whites give them the runs though. Some might find it risky. I heard the yolks are best.

My breeder (and others) recommend giving 1/2 an egg yolk per day. It is not for the protein, but for the extra cholesterol. There is some thought that the extra cholesterol helps decrease the risk of early cataracts in the breed. I don't know the details, but perhaps Kimberly can help us out here...

You can also use powdered egg yolks.

The whites can be hard for them to digest - they used to make Lincoln vomit, so I just give the yolks. I hard boil 7 eggs every week (I have two dogs).

EGGs

We started out feeding our havs eggs. I hard boiled them and put them in their food...however, the research presented at last year's BRHC meeting indicated that the eggs are good for improving symptoms in dogs that have diseases associated with ockham syndrome but can also hide the onset of symptoms if developed. At least, that was the way I understood it. Might be a little off....so, we stopped because I would rather know when my dogs get the onset of any of those related illnesses rather than mask the symptoms....I guess though the jury is still out on this one. I am very interested in what everyone has to say on this topic. Susan

I give Maddie 1/2 egg yolk a day. I use the powdered egg yolk and just sprinkle it on her food. If I fix eggs, I usually give her cooked instead. She loves them.

Nico gets half an egg yolk daily. It was in my contract with the breeder that I'd feed him egg yolk every day for his lifetime. I usually give him hardboiled egg yolk, because my kids love hard boiled eggs but only eat the whites, so it works out well. I just ordered powdered egg yolk from The Eggstore, though, to use on those days when I don't have hard boiled egg yolks made.

Occasionally. She will sometimes flip her nose up at it, and other times eat it. I usually sprinkle with a little shredded cheese, too.

I give my guys 2 soft boiled eggs a week. I heard it's good for amino acids. The shell is also good for them if they will eat it! I also add Grizzly Salmon oil & cheese to their food. i have picky ones here!
