Question Do you switch dog foods???

I am curious to know what others do:

If you have a dry kibble your dog will eat enthusiastically AND agrees with their digestive system.... do you:

1. Stick with the food they love and agrees with them?
2. Change flavors - but stick with the same brand to provide variety?
3. Change brands for different flavors and nutritional values?

If you switch - how often do you switch and how long do you mix the two foods together?

(I TRIED TO MAKE THIS A POLL - BUT APPARENTLY I WAS TOO SLOW! IT HAS TO BE DONE WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF THE POST)!!

I just changed Ache's food because of allergies. She likes it. If the scratching stops , I stick with this kibble and don't change flavors.

Lynda we usually stick the kibble if they all really like it. Sometimes we might change the flavor but stick with the same brand. If we do change then we gradually switch them. I cant remeber the measurements when we switch. It sometimes says on the bag. We feed our guys Wellness. Thay all seem to like it. How are you guys doing? I cant believe that Beau and Gage are 2 years old now. Jillee is 4 as well. I hope we can get together sometime soon. We just need the rain to go away. Take care

I know!! Gage and Beau are still "puppies" to me though! Daisy just turned 3. It just doesn't seem possible. Ughhh I am so sick of the rainy, messy weather. Can't keep the house clean! They could use a playdate.....

I'm actually going to play off of Lynda here...but since I've just gotten Diego not too long ago, I don't think it's time for me to transition food...but...what does everyone else feed their Havakids?

my 1/2 hav Ollie is the pickiest eater I have ever seen. before him all my dogs ate like dogs.

i never switch kibble. makes them even pickier eaters. all three of my dogs eat the same kibble, Innova adult, and they are all free fed, meaning there is food out all the time. my anatolian pup is a skinny wafer thin pup, and ollie has sufficiently chunked out after he got fixed and my big girl Kara, she kind of had fun with the all you can eat buffet for a while, but the glow has worn off by now (over a yr now). I think she put on 8 lbs.

once in a while I'll jazz it up and put cooked ground beef in with the kibble. or give them bones to gnaw on.

Sophie eats Fromm Puppy Gold twice a day, but her afternoon meal has a teaspoon of ricotto cheese, which she loves. I've tried to mix in canned, many different ones, but she won't touch it. She's eight months old. She's never been a big eater.

Kaleb is on Wellness for puppies. I mix a little of the soft for puppies in his kibbles. He won't eat the kibbles dry.

Amelia eats purina puppy chow, which is dry. That is what her breeder was feeding her so we just kept with it. She is not a big eater. Are there brands of food that are better than others? we are going to switch from her puppy food when she is a year, and we are trying to figure out what brand to buy. we never feed her table food. once we used a tiny tiny drop of peanut butter in her kong and she threw up. so since then, it has been dog food only. We will probably try some broiled chicken with her when she is a little older. If we ever bring KFC in to eat, she sticks her nose in the air and follows the aroma around the apartment!

The breeder had Kaleb on Wellness and when I took him to the vet for his 1st checkup here in Az,she said it was a good brand. I have my BRT on Royal Canine and she also said it was a good but when I read all the natural ingredients in the Wellness brand I slowly switched my BRT to the Wellness for large breeds. She did well with the switch. It tells you how to switch them over.
