The Recent Tornadoes

I know we have participants in this forum who live in the South. Did anyone get hit by the tornadoes? The destruction is horrible. That storm system came through Texas before heading east and it left a mess but no deaths. I hope you all are well.

I live in Alabama but the worst part of the storms missed us....all around us there is such destruction......it is so horrible to see people's homes destroyed and their belongings tossed about for hundreds of feet.....the town of Phil Campbell only has 1100 people and 30 people died.....they are still w/out power and no word when it will be restored.......and now the lost pet postings are beginning on sites and on facebook....dogs found wandering around with no way to reunite them with their owners since so many are displaced themselves and no power or phones even if they are microchipped or have tags............. We are collecting items at work and PAWS (Pets are worth saving) was collecting today at Petco so I did my shopping this morning to get everything to the drop off points....they are in need of dog food and cat food, leashes, collars, carriers things like that.......the immediate need for people is water, gatorade and food ..........if any of you can help the Red Cross, Salvation Army and United Way all have websites set up to make donations. I'm not sure if PAWS has theirs up yet or not.

This is such a horrible, sad situation. It's hard to imagine how long it will take to clear away the damage and build again. So many people and animals displaced. Maybe PETCO will take up donations for areas hit by the tornadoes. What a tragedy for the whole country.

My co-worker's brother was killed while camping with his daughter. He covered her body with his and a tree branch hit him in the head killing him instantly. His daughter was trapped under his body for three hours before they found her. So sad!! She is doing OK but I'm sure it is something she will never forget or completely recover from.

Thankfully, most of the bad weather missed us. This ordeal is so sad.
