Barking when leaving the house

Our puppy POGO 5 months, is a very nice boy, until it is time for us to go to school or work. The moment he realizes we are going to leave, he goes crazy, starts barking and gets hyper. The barking continues for a long time. This happens no matter whether we leave for 5 minutes or more.

What are the things we can do.???

Thanks.

Sri.

Welcome to the forum. I'm assuming he's being left alone, . How long are you leaving him for.? Here's an article on separation anxiety. http://www.dogstardaily.com/training/home-alone I'm in the middle of a new book about this. If you want further material ,it's called DON'T LEAVE ME, by Nichole Wilde. It's a difficult problem. The key is to start from day one that you get them and slowly build them up to time alone.

Thanks for all the replies. Very useful. We already practice some of the suggestions but we will start the quiet time when we are home soon.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, Sri and Pogo! We look forward to hearing more about your little guy. Pictures would be nice, too, of course!
