Petsmart Buyout=No More Recycled Litter

Well I went to the local Petsmart to Buy some of the recycled litter for Radar and was told that they no longer carry it due to the buyout. Apparently Petsmart decided they wouldn't carry it anymore when they bought out Superpet.

Can I use the recycled cat litter instead or is there another store down here (Toronto) that would carry it for me. The Girl at the store said "Yesterday's News" or this other brand would do and would be safe.

Any suggestions...I need this stufff like today...

Derek, I'm not sure what the litter you were using looks like but "Yesterday's News" are little pellets made from recycled newspaper like the name suggests. It would be safe to use. The only question would be if Radar would use it?

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. They are very small and they would get all over the place. He's got the cone and he has been scooping the pellets up that are in there right now and he gets out of the litter box and get's it everywhere.

Hillarious.

I'm glad it would be safe to use...the girl in the store said it was for cats though...

I have used both of the pellet type of litter. The one made for dogs is much larger and not quite as messy, so it's a bummer if you can't get it anymore. The kitty version is much smaller and my dogs would put it in their mouths or kick it around. I quit it using it after one bag.

Do you have a Petco around you? They carry a Purina recycled puppy litter that you can use (or perhaps order online).

I found this Second Nature Litter by Ralston Purina...that might work...I really liked the other stuff because it was very absorbent.

Yeah, Derek, that's the one that I meant on my post. I haven't used it myself, but the owner of the petshop on my block told me it's pretty good.

Well perhaps it's time I made the switch then.

Yes, the Second Nature brand is very good! That's the one I was using. The only problem I had is that the pellets do absorb a lot so they literally crumble. I ended up buying a second potty pan, so I could thoroughly wash the dirty pan out once a week and let it air dry in the sun. During the week, I would always scoop out the feces and would occasionally scoop wet pellets too. You can get little litter scoops in the cat section of your pet store.

Yeah I was gonna get it but I wanted to ask my trusty forum members about it first.
