Coach freaked me out this morning

So Coach just doesn't bark. It's very weird having such a quiet dog, although we feel very fortunate since we live in an apartment.

I'm working in my office this morning, Coach in here with me when all of a sudden he looks out the door and starts barking, I mean really barking. Then cowers down with tail between his legs and starts to growl. (never heard him growl in my life) . I walk with him through the house, don't see anything. He is shaking and looks terrified.

Problem is we live across from a cemetery. We love it because it's like a huge park without the noise. I try to never 'go there' in my head. Well, now he's got me thinking there is a ghost in the house. My skin was crawling, thought I felt a pull on the bedroom door when I opened it to check the room. Imagination running wild.

He probably was afraid of the door stop (he's had issues with those before (yes, a door stop) but this seemed much bigger than that.

Sun is up now and he's calmed down, but wanted to relay my story. Crazy dog I'll never know what it was that got to him.

Wonder what got him so riled up? Have you ever watched "The Ghost Whisperer"? It was a series with Jennifer Love Hewitt in it and dealt with ghosts that did not pass over due to unresolved issues. She could see them and helped them. It was not scary. You just never know, do you?

I've heard lots of stories of dogs mysteriously looking at invisible things, or "following" them with their eyes. Barking/growling for no apparent reason.

It could be attributed to something as simple as a bug flying around in the house that you can't see. More likely, there was probably something outside that he could smell or hear that he was not comfortable with.

Probably nothing...

No I've never seen that show, but do have a history. A house we moved in to had had a young boy drown in the next door neighbors pool. We bought the house from that family that had lived there 40 years. Strange things happened right after we moved in, stuff getting knocked over. Brushes on my shoulder, very creepy... the weirdest of all was a pewter dish on my stove was turned over every night. I thought my ex did it when he came home. I finally asked why he did that. Said he never did. OH OH! Then I heard the story of Keith drowning and I said something to 'him' about you can stay here but don't scare me and kids out the house, after that we peacefully coexisted.

BUT I don't want to go through that again, ever.

Now I'm sure that anyone reading this will think I'm crazy if they didn't think so already

Coach

oh my gosh, I have chills... so creepy!
you are NOT nuts... when I was younger, in 8-9th grade we moved into a house that I swear, to this day was haunted. I could NOT go down the halll to my parents room or my brothers room, OR the guest room, I would get THE heaviest feeling, doors would slam all the time, no one else beside me and my dog could feel it. I had recently accepted Christ and had all kinds of verses around my room and was praying all the time, I really believe that my room was the only "safe" room in the house. When we came to visit the house for the first time, the ladies furniture (including her TEETH) was still in the house. She had passed away there. Not sure how, but it was a VERY dark feeling, intense house. Doesn't help that my parents ended up seperating while we lived there. I was SO relieved when we moved out of that house!!!
So, NO, I do NOT think you are crazy at all!!! The afterlife is something we don't know much about, but I think is very real.

silly question but is there anything that would show him his reflection? Jack still barks and growls at the doggie in the fireplace and the one in his stainless steel bowl.

Pam

I know that my dogs sometimes will see the T.V. reflected in the window and b ark at it. Maybe that's what happened - just some reflection or something
