Converting to Havanese

Yesterday we had a 4th of July cookout at our home. All of my family came with a few freinds. The whole time the guests were at the house Kipper was in someone's arms (I don't think that he walked for more then 5 minutes the whole time they were there). Everyone kept asking if I wanted to give him them and said they were taking him home with them
Towards the end of the evening my sister had convinced my mother that she needed another dog (she has a Westie) and that a Hav would be the perfect fit for them. MY MOTHER AGREED!!!!!!
So looks like we will have a new Hav owner in the family soon- my sister is actually going to look at puppies this week

Yes our sweet little Havanese certainly warm up peoples hearts. I took Zoey to a over night camp out party Saterday night she was on a different lap about every 20 min. Their were also six other dogs so she got good socialization.

Yesterday, we had guests over for our 4th celebration and Cruze picked out a wonderful lady, who raises Newfies, and just cuddled in her lap for about an hour. It was lovely to witness. Then there were the puppies who were frolicking everywhere and our guests were so entertained. It was nice to share our big Havs and the pups with everyone. They all slept very soundly last night.

Oh she did it!! She went and got an 8 week old black/white parti male yesterday. LOL I gave her the forum's web address and told her to join especially since she really didn't read up on the breed before she decided to get the puppy.

How did she do that so fast? Maybe she was planning it all along?

Wink

They do get to everyone. We took Cappy to our family vacation home in Georgia. He had so much fun with my sister-in-law's Golden Retriever she fell in love with him and now wants to get her dog a Havanese sister or brother

She found one in the paper and went and picked him us yesterday. I went with her. It was a BYB but one that really cared for her puppies. She imported her stud from Hungry. We got to see the mom, the grandmother and the father of the puppies. She had already started on paper training him and going outside in the grass, had started teaching him his basic commands and he seemed to be really well socialized. The one major thing that bothered me was that she let one of the puppies go to a home at 6 weeks which is waaaayyyyy to early to let a puppy away from its parents/siblings. I thought 8 weeks was early with mine from the shelter. She had my sister bring her Westie to see if he would be ok with the puppies and talked with us for a couple of hours. He is AKC registered and the grandmother had all the test but not the mom/father. I told her it was her choice but you know how hard it is to turn down a little ball of fluff when you have them in your arms.

Oh my Lord, my sister called me today freaking out about the puppy and how she just doesn't think it is going to work out. Her other dog is not liking the little fluff ball at home and apparently snapped at him last night. I keep telling her that it is normal and that they have to get used to each other and that it takes a couple of weeks but said she thinks she is going to give it back to the breeder..... Problem is the BYB made it pretty clear that she only takes a puppy back under extreme circumstances and that it is has happened only twice since she has been breeding Hav's. I told my sister that she could give me the puppy if she didn'y have another option (yeah I know)
I then asked her if she researched the breed at all and she said (and I quote) "no you did so I figured I didn't need to"
I asked if she had thought further then Kippers cuteness and what it took to have a puppy and she said she didn't. OMG!!!
I told her that I thought about getting a puppy for about 2 years, seriously looked at breeds for 1 year, researched breeders for about 4 months before I decided on one (Still love the Kings even though we rescued Kipper from a shelter) and finally found Kipper. LOL wow I think that this will be one heck of a ride until she can figure out what she plans on doing.
Please don't get me wrong, my sister LOVES animals I think she just saw Kippers face and didn't think any further (he was almost 7 months when she first met him and had taken a TON of work on my part to get him to that cuddly little fluff ball). Sigh, I guess things will work out the way that they are supposed to, who knows maybe I will end up with another Hav earlier then I thought, I just don't know if I am ready for baby puppy phaze again.
