SHOW DOGS AND HAIR IN EYES

I notice that all the show dogs have their hair back out of their eyes. Usually it looks like it parts in the middle and naturally stays that way. I haven't seen any with the fringe of hair over their eyes. Just wondering why not. The breed standards talk about the hair over the eyes to shade from the tropical sun. Seems as if they would be shown that way. Anyone got an answer?

A lot of ppl like to keep it out of their eyes so the judge can see the expression on their face.

In Britain when they are shown they have their hair over their eyes, they look a little more rough and ready than the ones I have seen in pictures here on the forum, although they do seem to be becoming more coiffeured!

It doesn't matter what the Standard says as much as what Professional Handlers do that get results in the ring a lot of times. People will follow what wins rather than the Standard. Winninng is the ring is as much about grooming, presentation, and spending big bucks on advertising in the show magazines as it is about conformation.

I once overheard some pro handlers talking about changes in the Standard. One said, "It doesn't matter what they do. We can control what the dogs look like." Heads just nodded in aggreement-including mine.
