Talking Introduction, finally!

Hi all! I am so glad to be part of your forum!!

When I got my little furbaby Baxter back in '08 I joined up and then promptly forgot about it. A few weeks ago I was researching ways to successfully grow him out from his puppy cut and stumbled upon you again.

After a few speed bumps, in my posting and replying abilities I managed to hunt down Thumper to help me figure out why I was being rendered mute. (Which is not fun for a blabberfingers like myself.) We got it figured out so here I am!!! Thank you Thumper!! And anyone else in the site administration who helped, I truly appreciate it.

Anyways, here is Baxter. He was born in April of '08 and he is my sweet, sweet buddy. (I have his bad hair day static picture in my avatar.) Let me see if I can attach a picture.

Here we are getting ready to go home after a day at the lakehouse. Happy car ride face!!

Here he is on a walk. He doesn't really like bridges. This is why I am getting the ("I can't believe you are taking a picture of me while we are still on this evil bridge" look.)

Okay, I am hoping those images take. This is my first time posting photos on this particular forum.

At any rate, Baxter plays all day with his buddy Ichabod, our kitty. He also has my twin daughters who are 14 and my son who is 10 to dote on him. He is a very spoiled boy.

Welcome Back!

Have you been combing everyday? with a comb? Do you clip down your Hav or is he professional groomed?

He goes to the groomer every other wednesday. We were slackers about brushing/combing before and only did a a couple three times a week and mostly let the groomer take care of it. We are doing much better now and brush him daily.

Which are the best combs to use for them? I have one which he hates, and I have a brush which he loves.

Yay! You're very welcome, I'm glad we figured out why

He is so cute! Have you always had him in a puppy cut? I would probably start getting him used to the brushing and combing now, and do you groom him yourself? The hardest thing about keeping a long coat is the maintenance and staying one step ahead of those dreaded mats. Out of all of the products I've spent tons of money on, corn starch works the best in breaking the mat up, go figure.. lol

We are a bunch of chatterboxes around here, so you'll fit right in!

Nah, he was beautifully scruffy when he was about a year old. (Had never been cut.) Then we went to Europe for two weeks during the winter and left him with a family member. Who, even though we gave him instructions about grooming, somehow "forgot" to groom him.

In the winter.....in the snow.....you can imagine the mats when we got home. I was so sad. At any rate, Patty, our groomer fixed him right up but had to cut him into a puppy cut to get rid of the mats. And there he has stayed.

He is pretty good about getting groomed but hates our comb. He is always giving me the little pacifying licks that really mean, "Mom, please stop, that pulls!"

Anyways, the thing that drives me the craziest is the little hairs that keep getting in his eyes whenever it is time to try and grow him out. Then he gets gooky eyes and since his face is all white. Ick.

My Rosie hates the comb also. I brush her with a All Systems brush and it really does a good job. Then I take the comb and run through a line of hair at a time. We rarely have a big matt anymore unless I have neglected her for more than a few days. The brush is a small one and really does a good job. I use a face comb to get out the tiny knots of hair that I find with the brush. Let that puppys hair grow. Trim the hair from the corner of its eyes and I cut Rosie's along the bridge of her nose to keep it out of her eyes.

If you don't want to cut around the eyes you can try a little plain chapstick to hold it down.

Welcome back!

Welcome to you and Baxter! Piper has the same car ride face, thrilled to be going anywhere.
