The Vet and the Vets at NC state all believe Boo Boo (A Lhasa and he is 14.5) has a form of Addisons...that being said we did the ACTH test it was inconclusive due to the amount of steriod left in his system at the time of the test, as they believe he had an Addison's Crisis we were only able to wean him off prednisone for 2 days, this after having a massive amount. Due to his age and their strong beliefs, he is being treated for Addisons the kind where he only needs prednisone, he gets 5mg every other day. I was also told they believe there is an autoimmune component at work. I believe your dog is much younger. With Boo Boo and his many other issues quality of life is the most important thing. The Vets would like nothing more to check it out but, they have told me it would not change the out come and they also know that if it is not going benefit him I won't do it. The Prednisone has made such a difference in his over all mood, activity level and the pain he has in his back. I was told that often there are a few different things going on when there is Addison's, pure cases are hard to find and as time goes on other things crop up. I know you have been through a real hard time with your guy, hope they get to the bottom of it.
