Adult dog

I have a friend whose mom is looking for a trained Havanese dog. They are a wonderful family who have had dogs before and I am confident they would make great owners.

Does anyone have any leads? I looked at a few of the breeders I am familar with (Janizona, My Yuppy Puppy) but they did not have adult dogs.

I would love to be able to pass on a few leads to help them find their perfect match.

I started thinking I should get a pup and train it for them but that is just not even a possibility!

Maybe try HRI. There are lots of lovable Havs there looking for their forever homes

I recently looked for an adult dog for my mother, and didn't find anything with the breeders that are frequently mentioned in this forum. Where are you located? The local San Antonio newspaper has been advertising a female Havanese being sold by a woman who has decided to give up breeding. Her name is Ann Shapiro. Looks like maybe a backyard breeder or even a step up from that. Cute dog.

Your friend might want to attend a dog show and ask around. I got Riley when he was 1 yr old. He did not make it as a show dog. It was great because he was completely house broken when I got him. He is just an all around great dog.

funny that this topic just came up ... I was just on Tillie's breeders site and saw that she is looking for a forever home for Tillie's DAD! gasp... this makes me sad for some reason... He is a fantastic dog, not totally sure how old he is, I would guess no more than maybe 4 or 5 yrs old? and of course gorgeous.
although he is in Oregon... havacuddle.com is the site, and IF you do go to the webpage, TILLIE is the puppy on top of the home page!

Also, besides the above mentioned, check with HCA breeders referral. They might have a direction. I, personally, have a problem letting go of a dog I've had for a while. I know of lots of people who can do this easily, if the home is right. When you think about it, the dog would probably be happy as an "only child". Maybe before I get ancient, instead of just a senior, I'll be able to do this. Who knows?
