Toys

I have abasket full of all kings of dog toys from squeaky rubber ones to stuffed animals to kongs to rawhideand bullies... My hav wont play with any of them. The only thing I have ever seen her chew are my kids legos and wooden blocks
Does any one have any ideas for irresistable toys for choosy dogs?

Try giving it an empty water bottle. They love the sound of the plastic as they kill it. One of Rosie's favorites.

If you're not afraid your dog will steal your socks, try an old clean one you tie a know in for a tug toy. You could get one of the tug toys at a store too.

Brody would choose paper over everything. He has lots of things to chew on and occasionally does but he definitely prefers chewing on stuff he isn't supposed to (like the edge of my computer desk). I think his all around favourite toy though is his Kong Wubba. That's his go-to toy. We can toss it, play tug, he can chew on it, and he can get it in his mouth to squeak the squeakers.

Someone gave me the idea of putting a little bacon grease (sound gross doesn't it) around inside of Kong. Well it kept her attention for a little bit but once she realized she wasn't getting any bacon out of it she quit. Is it ok that she doesn't play with toys? I always thought they needed toys or maybe I just like to buy them

Second question is there any other way to reduce tartar if she is not a big chewer? Brushing her teeth is not going to happen LOL

yep. paper towels.... empty water bottle.... both will keep my girl occupied for a while. She also loves rope toys... and the human hand to tug on the other end IS required :-) She's also partial to any kind of stuffed animal that squeaks.
The best is combining the best of both worlds... an empty water bottle INSIDE of a sleeve with a rope chew attached. She'll go crazy with that.

Don't know if it's a good idea to let them chew wood. Trixie would love to do it, if I would let her,.. but undoubtedly, you're asking for trouble with either 1. them swallowing some of the wood -- not good... or 2. deciding one day to chew some furniture of yours that is also made of wood. Same with the legos. If they can chip off some of the plastic, it might be a sharp enough shard to cause emergency surgery. That happened with our family dog when I was a kid.

We eat cooked oatmeal for breakfast every morning and Luna's favorite toy is the cylindrical oatmeal box. She doesn't care if it's a Quarker Oats container or the Great Value one from Walmart.lol She carries it around, growls at it, swings it back and forth which is so much fun to watch because she is only a bit longer than the cylinder is. She tears it up in about 10 days which is about the time it takes to empty a new one.

We don't purposely let her eat legos and locks but with 5 kids there are always stray toys lying around. She also likes to chew on kids toothbrush handles Haven't quite fiured out if she steals them or baby shares them with her ewwwwwwwwwww

Mine loves empty water bottles. You can buy the toys at petsmart that has an empty water bottle inside of it and it crackles as she plays with it. Her favorite toy. Also has a big ball that is like stuffed strands and in a ball shape. she love carrying it around and rolling it.
