Cool Havanese or Not?

After loosing two wonderful dogs in February and March due to the Pet Food Recall, we were in deep grief as you can imagine. We finally adopted an adorable 3 1/2 month old puppy, from an ad in the paper, which stated, "she" was part Dachshund and part Shih-Tzu but we didn't care, she was adorable. Everywhere we went, people would remark, there is NO Shih-Tzu or Dachshund in her, so what is she? But one day, while out shopping with her, a woman came running up very excited, telling us she was indeed Havanese and pulled out a picture of her Havanese dog, who was identical to our "Annie". From that incident, I searched the Internet for information, and everything I found only verified Annie was indeed Havanese. I am adding her photo at 3 1/2 months and would someone please tell me what they think.....we truly believe she is Havanese! We love her personality, intelligent, active, loving, playful and all the Havanese characteristics......

Hi Jim and Judy:

I am so sad to hear about your double loss due to the pet food recall. That was just such an awful thing to happen and got me started on homecooking.

But how exciting that you may have a Havanese! I'm sure others, especially the breeders on the forum, can help you with the id. I didn't see a photo with your post, so you might want to try uploading it again.

I guess the main things I'd look for would a slight rise from front shoulders to rump and a springy gate when she runs.

My son's teacher got a wonderful dog from the shelter that definitely could be a Hav. He has bowed front legs, which isn't desirable, but is one of the problems that can be seen in the breed. Kind of sad that something like that would be useful in id'ing, but he seems to be doing well at age 12!

Well, it will be fun to see the photos of Annie! Welcome to the forum too!

NO photo!!!

You need to attach it thru manage attachment below the posting area and make sure it isn't too big...go to the shrink photo link on side of the board and size it to 50%...we want to see your baby!!

Welcome . Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss of your pets from the recall .How terrible for you . You are the first people I have heard of who lost a pet - it has been downplayed so much ..
I homecook because of this . I did it before but no I never think of switching . It would be too painful for me .
EVery day I thank my vet for suggrsting I go back to home cooked food .
I will say though Paul Newman's food is safe as it is considered Organic and it is specially prepared and the machines are cleaned each time fod is made ..

I am so sorry that you lost two of your fur babies especially to something that is the fault/negligence of someone else. The food recall made me so mad that for the almighty dollar corners were cut.

Sounds like we are in the same situation when it comes to knowing that our pups are really Havi's. I feel in my heart that my Lilly is I just can't prove it. That bugs me but it doesn't affect my love for her.

You might need to resize it?

Go to the picture itself and hit edit, and then select "resize picture", from there it should prompt you to select "Compress picture", select that, and it may ask you for what purpose, like "web pages", select that.

At that point, you should be able to post it. Underneath the text box, it says "Manage attachments", select that and hit "Upload photos" Once that is done, you can just close the photo box and hit "Submit post".

If that doesnt' work, email the picture
