scrambled eggs

i've decided to give django a treat once a week of scrambled eggs but i don't know how many to scramble! also, do the eggs take the place of kibble? is it enough to sustain him for the day?

With Kodi, we just give him some of ours, and it's not in place of his kibble, it's in addition to it. While eggs are an excellent source of protein, they are not a balanced diet for a dog, and I'm not sure I'd go as far as replacing an entire meal with it.

In Kodi's case, I cook 4 eggs for Dave and me, and then give him some. My guess is it might be about 1/4 of an egg.

Wow Karen, I scramble two for Rosie. Good non-stick pan that I just rub some butter on, get it hot then put the eggs in and using a wooden spoon scramble in the pan. She likes hers soft scrambled. I usually taste a forkful or two just to make sure they are just right then give them to her. I leave her kibble bowl down at all times. So she eats kibble a little along all day. Like I say, she should be fat, but is not.

Oh, scrambled eggs is a favorite here too. They don't get it too often, but they get about one between the two of them, maybe a little less, because I just give them part of ours before the seasonings.

All my dogs love scrambled and boiled eggs. When I got my 1st Havanese, it was recommended to give her 1/3 boiled egg yolk per day. This was from some preliminary studies that recommended, but from what I unerstand, is not necessary. A little egg is good for the dog.

How often do you give her two? If it's once in a while, I can't see any problem with it. If you do it regularly, I don't know how she keeps her girlish figure! OTOH, maybe that's why you can leave her kibble down all day... Kodi finishes his in about 30 seconds!

Yeah, Kodi just gets what we're willing to part with.<g> I don't put an extra one in for him, and I DON'T cook any for him if we aren't having some anyway! (I know, mean, mean Doggie Mom)

Two days this week I scrambled eggs for her at lunch time. Rosie eats a lot and maybe most of her food is home cooked. But she eats at least a half a cup of Blue Buffalo every day also. Cream of wheat is one of her favorites, but I haven't found a bowl that just lets her little tongue in it. She always gets it all over her ears and mustache. And as I have said all her treats are home cooked meat (or raw meat sometimes). She is keeping her figure like her mommy did when I was young, she runs it off. I will cut back on her food if she begins to get fat. Sso far Josie Wales outweighs her by nearly two lbs.

We have bacon and eggs on Saturday. The 2 dogs get 1/2 egg, 1 bite of bacon and around 1/4 of a slice of bread - that is our and their treat for the weekend.
