Pepper's new ride :-)

I bought a basket for my bike so Pepper could ride up higher than he was in the trailer. He loves it! The basket is from Cynthia's Twigs and is rated up to 20-lbs. Pepper weighs 12-lbs.

I also added Doggles to keep his eyes safe from blowing dirt, bugs and his own crazy hair.

He is having a blast!

He looks like a real "cool dude" in his doggles, riding in the basket.

Oh my goodness that is too cute! I will have to get Ceylon those doggles too. No bike riding here though until the spring, in full fall storm season...

AWESOME! I have been looking for a bike basket for Tillie for a year and am totally going to check this out!! thanks! Does it shift much when Pepper moves around??
I am afraid of falling if she jerks or something and knocks me off balance...

I had to delete those photographs right away, Sir Winston and Lady Mia would be terribly upset.. they have no doggles and no basket!!! I would need a huge basket for the two of them..and a better road, ours is all gravel and uphill..lol..but I love it! Pepper is one cool dude!

How does he react to the Doggles? I would think most dogs would rip them off.

The basket is designed to hang on the handlebars but my bike has a mini front rack so we mounted the basket to it. You can see the block/mount in the photos. That takes the weight off the handlebars and puts it on the front fork. Even so, I practiced riding with 2-litre bottles of water in the basket before letting Pepper ride, so I would have a good idea of what the weight shift would feel like. He does turn around and move to get comfortable, but it hasn't affected my handling of the bike.

Also, he's tethered with a harness that I bought with the basket. Pepper wears his Puppia harness and I attach that to the basket harness with a very lightweight carabiner clip. He cannot jump out.

We've done multiple 11/12-mile round trip rides on both paved and dirt roads and so far - so good!

We got them today and he handled the introduction very well! I put them on him and then took him outside immediately so he could see (the lenses are tinted so it would be like wearing sunglasses inside). Once we fixed the straps for proper sizing he was fine. And once I put him in the basket for a ride he was definitely good to go!

I'm sure if I tried to leave them on at home he would be bothered. But they don't seem to bother him outside and on the ride.
