Selling puppies in a parking lot...

So I was down in Washington State to do some black friday shopping. I was in Aurora WA and it was Saturday, petsmart adoption day was at the Costco on the other side of the parking lot. As I drove out, I saw a minivan parked infront of Petsmart with a sign on the windows saying 'for sale, shih tsu puppies'. There was a guy trying to sell puppies to a family.

That is jut sad. very sad My heart just sank when I saw that.

As sad as that is (and it is), it's sadder to think that people will buy the cute puppies, who may have various health and temperament issues.

And the sad part is that people buy them thinking they are getting a deal. Buying a dog should require a liscense similar to buying a handgun. But rather than checking to see if they have any criminal records, they should be checked for signs of being a moron.

This was the norm when i was a kid in West Texas, I remember seeing many streets on the corner with people and a cardboard box full of puppies, I can say that I haven't seen it lately, but I think 30 years ago, it was quite normal and acceptable to buy a puppy on the side of the road, days before Puppy mills really came to fruition.

Gosh, I feel old.

It happens alot here in south GA. On Sat. afternoons in the Walmart parking lot you can almost always find someone selling puppies. Usually they are Labs (or something that slightly resembles a lab) or pit bulls.... Makes my heart hurt - both for the dog and the new owner...

Angry A heartache

Here in Ohio puppies are sold at flea markets. Of course, people don't think it through and just want to rescue the puppy they see in front of them. Same is true of 'pet stores'. I'm probably very unwelcome at Petland in our area after telling them what I thought of their $3,000 puppies.

Just sad to think of the conditions these pups may have been bred in and what the Mom went through, probably many times.

Too bad we can't license people the same way before they reproduce!
