Kirby has his teeth cleaned today~I'm scared!

Good morning everyone!

I just wanted to drop in and let you know that Kirby is having his teeth cleaned FINALLY today ~~ Of course, I am worried and just want this day to be over. He may need extractions and I just don't like this whole thing....I know it needs to be done and his vet has been absolutely wonderful, emailing almost everyday this week to let me know the exact plans etc. Kirby's liver enzymes have improved significantly and he is now on a liver supplement for awhile.

Anyway, please keep thinking of my boy today and sending your wonderful Havanese vibes....Thanks everyone and it's so good to be back on this forum once again!

It sounds like your vet is wonderful and will take great care of Kirby. I know it is so hard when they go in for a procedure. Hopefully, he won't need extractions. Give him lots of kisses when he gets home!

I'm sure he'll be fine, but sending gentle {{{hugs}}} his way!

I would worry too, though. I'm doing everything I can to keep Kodi's teeth clean so we can avoid it, or at least put it off as long as possible.

Great news you dear ones who sent good thoughts Kirby's way! The vets office just phoned and he sailed through the procedure beautifully! He woke up quickly and is "just chillin" she said. We will meet with his vet late today to discuss his diet and supplements for his liver troubles. He's also having some crystals in his urine so he is on a special diet now, which he loves! We are just so relieved and so grateful he is okay AND no extractions needed to be done!! Yea!!

Thank you everybody~

Glad all went well. Just wondering if you might like to find a better diet than what the vet will probably recommend. They probably will recommend their own food , ie. Hills Prescription , which is crap. With this I would seek out a nutritionist such as Sabine. She does consultations for this sort of problem all the time. Just a thought. These crystals are quite often the result of Kibble, and not enough water in the food.
