Question Dumb question concerning coldness

Ok, so we're going into our first winter shortly with Momo. How can you tell, short of shivering, if she is cold?

Kodi either shivers, or he burrows under blankets.

Cey does the same - on especially cold nights he slips his nose under the blanket at bedtime, burrows until his body is completely under, then wriggles around until he can stick just the tip of his nose out from under lol. It's pretty funny to watch.

Dogs will curl up like anchovies when they are cold. I also touch the tips of their ears & nose. Bella runs cold and shivers if the temp dips below 65. Fred runs on the hot side. He only gets cold when he is wet. His nose and tips of ears are always warmer than Bella's & Scudders. Hope this helps!

Thanks, Karen, Heather and Linda! So far, no shivering or burrowing. But, she does curl up a lot. I'll have to figure out if she's cold when she does that.

I don't know if this is true, but I heard once they are shivering, they are beyond cold.

Thanks all, now I know what to look for to know that Precious is cold. I haven't notice Precious shivers or buries herself under the blanket yet. Even when she is outside, she seems to be fine. The only time I noticed she shivers was in vet office.

The only time I've seen Kodi shiver is outside on a very cold, very windy day. He wasn't out very long before he started shivering though... it was almost as soon as the air hit his skin. We went back inside and put his puffy coat on and he was fine.

And yeah, he sometimes shivers at the vet too, but I don't think that has anything to do with cold! We're trying to counteract that by stopping by the vet's office for a cookie on our walks.
