Pretty boy!

So I was combing Ceylon today (he got a bath last night) and at the end, when I was doing his chest which was the last part left while he was laying on his back, he looked up at me with such a look in his eyes - - his hair was splayed out all around his head and he just seemed to KNOW that he looked SO beautiful haha! Maybe I was imagining it but I really felt like he was trying to say, "Look at me mom, aren't I gorgeous?!" LOL! So I grabbed my phone and snapped a pic. The picture doesn't really capture the look in his eyes or how pretty his hair was all splayed out - instead, he just looks like a ball of fur with an eyeball and a nose haha! but I just had to share anyway

On another note, he has hair (which is still really short; about 1/4 - 1/3 inch long) growing in on the rims of his ears which are a different color than the rest of his hair there; it's blond at the bottom and tipped with dark apricot (whereas the rest of his hair there is blackish/grayish all the way to the roots). I also noticed one other little clump of hair the same dark apricot-sort of color, but shorter than the rest of his hair, coming in on his back where the rest of his (longer) hair is blond. Has anybody else noticed this sort of color change growing in? I am excited to see how these areas of hair continue to grow!! (I included a couple pics of this hair on his ear; the pictures don't really do it justice since I have no flash on my phone but you can see the blond and apricot bands, and, the the greyish hair, which looks lighter in the picture than in real life. Well, the blond and apricot are actually very short hairs growing in in front of the greyish hair, and are just very short; I can separate them from the longer hair in back).

I had a hard time finding Ceylon in all that hair!

It's funny how much they change colors. That banding is quite interesting. Is that brindling?

Donnie, Momo and Ume's mom and loving it!

Aw Linda, thanks! And yes, I (think) he is very silky. I LOVE the feel of his hair, especially after a bath .

Hi Donnie, from what I understand brindling is a solid color in each hair from root to tip, but the fur overall is sort of tiger-striped along the body from birth (and, they retain most of the colors as they grow). Cey was classified by his breeder as a gold brindle but I think he is a gold sable. Sable is tipped hair, especially on the ears and tail, and usually tipped with black but can also be tipped with other darker shades. Here is a page with a good description of brindle vs. sable (and other colorings as well): http://www.cornerstonekennels.com/havanese/colors.html. The tipping plus the lightening of his overall color is what I think makes him a sable. I just think it's very interesting that he has new hair growing in that is tipped dark apricot... it will be interesting to see how that turns out
