Another one bites the dust

Kobe is such a good pup. His one flaw is digging holes in his bed and then pulling the stuffing out. He just dug a hole in his 3rd bed and he is only 7 months old. He really doesn't chew on anything he is not supposed to with the exception of paper except for his beds. He digs at the sheepskin until he makes a hole and then he pulls the stuffing out.

What do your dogs sleep on??

Whimsy sleeps at night with me in my bed, but during the day she generally sleeps on a nice thick fleece blanket in a corner on the kitchen floor. Sometimes she just sleeps on the bare floor or on the couch. Kobe is still so I would say get a nice soft blanket instead of a bed.You will go broke!

At home, mine sleeps either on the floor or on the back of the couch. At night he sleeps in bed with me. At work he sleeps in his crate with a blanket (or just on the bare floor).

Ceylon sleeps in my bed or my daughter's bed at night. During the day, either the couch or a fleece blanket in his crate - nothing with stuffing for him as he would probably do what Kobe does

I agree with Evelyn. When Kodi was younger he went through a "bed destruction" phase. He has two BEAUTIFUL beds made by his breeder, and I really didn't want them destroyed. So I just took them away until he could behave nicely with them. I found a few cheap fleece blankets and folded them into the right shape for a cosy bed. Sometimes he chewed holes in them, but they were so cheap, I didn't care!

Fortunately, he doesn't destroy beds any more, but it took until he was close to 2 years old!

Gucci sleeps in the bed, but you can also put one of your old pillows on the floor (preferably one that has your scent on it) and they will sleep on those, too..or blanket. Pretty much anything that is not carpet, Gucci wants to lay on. I could put a beach towel on the floor and she'd climb on it and crash out, unless its bedtime of course, and then its all about the bed and my blanket.

Buffy was never a chew monster, but Buster was. He'll be 2 at the end of February. He chewed holes in every bed he had access to and pulled out some stuffing until I realized what he was doing and removed the bed and stuffing from his crate or the living room floor.

I decided to use old towels and folded them up to fit his crate. He chewed those and also chewed the fleece blanket with which I covered his crate [He would pull it in through the wire bars.], but it was no great loss as we were no longer using them for their original purpose.

He is much better now but still seems interested in chewing anything soft and fleecy - he must think it is a toy for him.

I got serious about his carseat and sprayed Bitter Apple on all the straps, and that stopped him from destroyed them. You may want to try that on his bedding, but be aware that if you get it on your hands, you will be sorry. Inevitably, it will get to your mouth, and it is really bitter, so wear gloves when using the stuff. Also, Kobe will likely get some in his mouth even if he is not chewing on the bedding, and he will not be too happy about it.

Lucy sleeps on her back.

I too took a old blanket and cut in in two, then folded it to fit both of her kennels, the one upstairs next to our bed and the one downstairs that she stays in when she's in her x-pen and we're all gone. I bought her a soft fluffy bed when we first got her and she tore a hole in it the first night.

Augie had a nice bed with a zipper in it when he was a puppy. Totally chewed it up, chewed up the zipper. He had a cute little sherpa-type pad thing with some kind of foam stuffing for his crate. He got the zipper open and tore out all the foam padding. I went to the fabric store and bought several pieces of fleece when it was 50% off and just cut it into sections so that when it is folded a few times, it makes a nice soft padding for their crates. Can't have any blankets with stitching on the edges or Finn chews the stitching off.
