Desi and Javier

Hello to everybody.
We finally got out two male Havanese puppies on Friday. They were 8weeks old when we got them and we love them.

Being cold outside we are trying to potty train on a pad. Its going ok and I hope they will learn what to do fairly quickly.

We are crate training them too, but with them being so young they can't make it through the night without peeing in their crate.

Any help and advise on all things Havanese would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on you new baby's! All I can say is double the trouble double the fun! Its going to be very hard to house train two. You will have to be extremely consistent and that means having them in your bedroom crated so you can hear when they wake up and take them out side. Their is a potty system that has plastic grates I cant remember the name something like Ugia. I wish I had started mine for their indoor area with that product because the texture on their paws are so different than anything in your home. I would buy a large wire pin one made for a big dog have it divided for a sleeping area and a potty area. Mine climbed out of the Xpin and one hurt herself. So the cage type would be better IMO. We want pictures!

Welcome to the forum. Yep you've got twice the battle. If you're training them on pee pads, you have to keep them in an expen,so they have the opportunity to go at all times. You don't want them closed in their crates unable to relieve themselves. Here's an article that can help.

Wow! You are a brave soul trying to housebreaking 2 at the same time. I always woke my pups up in the middle of the night and took them outside to pee. I also put a bell on their collar so I could hear them stir. This was also helped when they weren't sleeping to know when they were on the move

Congrats on your new pups. We need pictures and we love pictures. It is a bit harder training two, if you have realistic expectations and do not try to rush things and are consistent in training you will do fine. Just remember it does take time and sometimes one pup will get it before the other. Enjoy your little guys, they aren't puppies for long and don't stress yourself out with the house training, be calm patient and consistent.
