I use the groomer at the doggy day care. He gets to play with the other dogs while he's waiting for his turn and doesn't have time to get nervous. When he is finished, the groomer calls me and I try to pick him up fast -- so he doesn't get a chance to get all messed up playing with the other dogs again!
The 1st time he was groomed, when the groomer called to tell me he was done, I asked if Beau had been a good boy. She said he was the best behaved Havanese she had ever seen. Of course, I asked if she was sure that she was referring to Beau. I have to chase him down to get him to let me brush or comb him at home!!
He still can't wait to go to day care, even though it may or may not include grooming. [Sometimes, I wonder if I'm being mean by not letting him go more often -- but I miss him if he's not at home with me!!] I suppose that means he's not stressed out by the whole routine. (At least I hope it means that).
