Okay, we made this transition
It was fairly easy for us, too.
What I did was moved the pad from the laundry room to next to the door that goes to the backyard, and when she would head for the pad, I would pick her up and take her outside and tell her to "go potty". Then, I would reward with a 'top notch' treat (one of the favorite, special ones) and have a big "Praise session" with her and then even run and around and play with her for a few minutes afterwards.
When we would be upstairs, I would watch for her to head to the master bathroom (where the other pad was, but I removed it all together) and I would take her outside and do the same thing.
It worked SO well, that she doesn't even like to use the pads at the office or the hotels! LOL, And I really wanted her to be able to use both methods depending on where we were, etc. But she'll whimper to go outside at the office now.
The only problem I am having......is that when she needs to go potty at home, she will stand at the door, but will be silent! And If I don't see her she has gone to pee where the pad used to be in the laundry room a few times
So I need to figure this one out. She hates the doggie doorbell (it scares her) So I may hang some bells?? Dont know yet.
Good luck! Let us know how it goes
I found this to be much easier than I thought it would be.
