Fish Oil

For those of you who add it to your dog's food, where do you get it? Can I just go to a Nature's Way store (or similar) and buy it or does it have to be a specific dog friendly fish oil?

I actually never fed it to Bumi, and want to start doing it for both of them now.

Tks

Zury, I recently asked my vet this question, and she said to use the stuff produced for humans, and she said that it was a good idea to give it.

Update: I have tried Cod Liver Oil (flavored with Cherry) and so far Bumi was OK with it. It's liquid so I mix it in with his food and he had no problem eating it. I didn't try it with Toby yet.
HOwever, I gave them Canned Salmon this Saturday for Breakfast and OH.MY.GOD, the soft poops!!! Toby had one that was like a bullet. It shot right out of him, splashing all the grass around it and lots of GAS (stinky too). Bumi's was later in the day but imagine the butt bath I had to give him with all that beautiful coat dirty with Poop! Thanks God it was just a One Meal/One Poop kind of thing!

I'll stick to the Cod Liver Oil from now on and won't touch the Canned Salmon.

Sorry. But the visual of that bullet was just too much! I know, juvenile sense of humor!

No, I just added 2 teaspoons. For humans it says 3, so I figure 2 would be OK.

It was funny when it happened. But the funniest part is when I picked him up and sat him on the snow then dragged his butt all over to make sure he was clean before going inside the house. Since it Splashed and shot out so fast, it didn't really dirty his hair.
Bumi, now that was another story!

My vet also said human salmon oil is good. I like the pet kind too because you can just measure with a dropper. I just learned that sardine oil is even better. If you give human in the gel tablet the does for a small puppy under 8mo was 1/2 My friend gives her full growen Havanese 1 gel tablet and I guess they just eat it.
