Food

How much do you feed your dogs? Kobe is 8 months old. 9 pounds and we give him 1/2 cup in the morning and 1/2 cup at 5:30. He seems to be growing fine and he happy but he eats so fast that he struggles to not vomit sometimes after he eats. I don't think he is starving, he just gobbles it too fast. We don't have any other pets so he knows it is all his.

The majority of my dogs eat about 1/2 cup once a day. Sometimes more if they are helping out their finicky friends..

You might look into one of these bowls that are designed to slow down from inhaling their food: http://www.gwlittle.com/product/eat_...owls/dog_bowls

My 9 month old, who is about 10lbs, gets 1/4 cup morning and night, so he'd LOVE to trade places with your guy!

What brand are you feeding him? I think that that might make a difference. I fed Cey Orijin Puppy formula up until about 10 months, then switched him to Canidae Pure Elements - both are very high protein.

I free-feed my Ceylon so it's not quite the same but Cey at 12 months weighs just over 10 lbs and eats somewhere between 1/3 and 3/4 cup a day (it varies). A cup a day seems like a lot for a 9-lb dog (despite what it may say on the dog food bag lol). What does your vet say? You might also try feeding the same amount but divided up into 3 or maybe even 4 servings a day and see if that might help... so that he won't be quite as hungry by the time the next meal comes...

He is still a puppy and still growing so he needs more food. Roki is 14 lb. and he eats a bit more than 1/2 cup a day plus some dired meat fillets and couple of small biscuits. Two or three times during the month he is fasting (not eating for whole day) and that usually happens day after a kind of "overeating".
I calculated that he needs around 320 callories a day. Growing puppies need musch more. Once he becomes an adult you will have to tak care of the quantity (whole cup is a lot for 9 or 10 lb. adult hav). My friend is fighting a war with her bichon frisee girl who likes to eat more than anything else. It is so hard when you have to put dog on a diet to loose weight.

Wow, I feed gabby about a half cup in the morning and another half cup in the evening. She is going on 5 months, and pretty average size for a hav. She eats it like she is starved every time. I guess from what I am seeing, I am feeding her too much!

Henry gets one 13 oz can of wet food a day - either Taste of the Wild or Wellness canned. Seems like a lot now that I see what others are doing. It's what the can recommends and he seems like he could eat much more if I would let him! Would love to see what others who feed canned are doing....

I give Gryff some dry mixed with wet in the morning. I've never actually measured it. Sometimes he'll gobble it up, other times it will sit around for hours before he decides to eat it. Other times, he will eat it and then knock his empty food bowl into oblivion in the evening wanting more. He is totally not food driven at all.

Pepper is 12-lbs and he gets 1/4-cup twice a day. However, he also gets snacks during the day. He would LOVE to be on Kobe's diet and keep the snacks!
