Below zero

Hello there ya all,
It has been a few weeks since I was last here and now we are in the middle of winter. Around 3 days ago the temperature here dropped so much that even setting foot out of my place for 1 minute was torture. Temperatures have reached a little bit below -40 celsius reason why Uli has not gone out... around like 4 days now. My vet told me more than 5 minutes under such conditions are a no no. Yet i feel bad for my little fluffy for not being able to go out for a sniff in her favourite bush. So i wanted to ask you guys what is the lowest temperature a havanese can handle. (???) OR what kind of snow gear do you guys own that you could recommend? cause i need a scarf to protect my lungs from such cold air so i am not sure if there is anything to protect her nose or whether havanese can handle the wind chill.

Thank you for your input!

woah... I can't even comprehend that kind of cold!!!! In my opinion, if they have an indoor potty option, there should be no reason to go out in that kind of cold!!! brrrr... but then again, I'm a california gilr. LOL

Lucky uuuuu!!! Wanna come over here? I can stay at your place instead
Yeah temperatures here can be quite extreme... either you roast in the summer or you go penguinning up during the winter. We had wind chill warning for like 3 days... meaning frost bit can occur in less than 10 minutes in exposed skin. Soooo.... i wonder how a doggie could go out for a walk considering that. I go out with 3 trousers and like 2 shirts, a vest, a hoodie and winter jacket. You can even feel how the jacket is going all stiff and starts kind making crakling sounds cause it has frozen over. And yet... i feel the cold seeping through all those layers.
I need to find a snow suit for my little girl, which is not an easy task, however... what about her nose and tail????
She sure has indoor potty however she is sooo bored and i go to work and leave her alone so she is moooore boooored.

Just so people know -40 Celsius is also -40 Fahrenheit. Just wondering where you're from. I was thinking we had someone from Inuvik again LOL

This winter has been mild. A couple of -20 days but that's usually with wind chill factor added in. Our son was saying they had this same snap in Calgary.

Lately Lizzie has been in love with her tennis balls. I throw them from the living room to the dining room and she brings them back to me until she is tired. We haven't been walking this week either with our temps so that has been keeping her a little active. The lowest it has been is 7F and she won't go for a walk.
