Linus and I miss everyone!

I just wanted to say "hi" to those who remember "tiny Linus". He is such a good boy who made it up to 6 pounds now! I have been through a lot the past 2-3 years, and he has definitely made it bearable. My dad died, my sailboat got destroyed by a tornado, my mom has cancer and almost died this past summer (multiple surgeries later she is better), I am going through a divorce, and I went back to graduate school to get a PhD in a new area (mathematical and genetic modeling). I passed my General Exams last semester so I am now "ABD" (All But Dissertation). It makes my stress level go up just typing it! I do not know if I could have endured last year, in particular, if I could not end the day snuggling up to my little man and his nite-nite mouse (Linus actually has a specific toy he sleeps with). Life should slow now, thank goodness. We have been fostering dogs in need off-and-on. We had two maltese from a puppy mill raid for a while and both found homes--I love happy endings. Now, I am thinking (someone smack me) that Linus really does need a playmate. I lost my other dog in the divorce, and the cats just are not going to belittle themselves to play with a dog. In fact, one cat goes over and lays on Linus's toy when we are playing fetch just to show his power. Linus thinks I am a hero when I retrieve the toy from under the cat. My issue would be that I want a small female (around Linus's weight) that is not alpha but would be willing to play and snuggle together. Linus is so loving and accepting unless he is bullied. If so, he pouts which would defeat the purpose of a playmate! Sorry so long, but it has been a long time.
Missed you guys,
Karen

Welcome back Karen. so nice to have a dog to always be there for you. Hope you find some relaxation time now, and can spend some of it here. Congrats on your education. We need some up to date pics. You should know us by now. We haven't changed.

Oh Karen is is great to hear from you again. So sorry for all the rough patches you have had to go through But it sounds as if you are coming out much stronger. Congrats on your furthering your education, that is wonderful

Yes I must agree that we need to see updated pics of the little man. I was just thinking about you the other day, and was thinking about that picture of Linus with his hair sticking straight out from all the static electricity

Again welcome back, looking forward to seeing you around more often now

Heather

Karen, I'm so sorry for the difficult road you've been on for the past two to three years. We all have times like that in life, the tests we feel we can never endure. I promise you though, there is light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how long and dark the tunnel feels.

I'm glad you came back for a visit and hope you decide to stay. Our little four legged loves can be the glue that holds us together when we think we're stretched to the breaking point. As for adding another, I wouldn't worry too much whether she is the same size or a little bigger. They'll work out their hierarchy in their own time and their own way. I'd be willing to bet he'll be thrilled having a built-in playmate.

Karen, it's good to have you and Linus back! How could I forget that cute little guy? I'm so sorry you've been going through so much but thankful you had your little cuddle-bug to keep you company. Our oldest dog, Abby is smaller than her new little (big!) brother. McGee outweighs her by two or three pounds but she is top dog in this house! I agree with everyone - we need pictures!!!

Here are a few shots of Linus from my phone so the quality won't be that great. One of the shots is Linus sleeping face-to-face with his nite-nite mouse. Some moments are so adorable (as you all know!). The pic with the 3.5-pound yorkie is our foster dog (she is almost 12 years old and her owners wanted to put her to sleep to get puppies) but she won't play. Linus does try, but she just walks away. Poor boy. Thanks for the well-wishes. Onward and upward!

Karen, I was thinking of little Linus the other week, wishing I could remember your name, and wondering why we'd not heard from you in so long. (Now we know.) I, also, remember Linus with the static! And a picture of him snuggled inside your sweatshirt.

Nice to hear from you and see new photos of Linus.
