Royal Canin

Hi Everyone

Need some help - I am based part of the year in Central America, in Panama. My options for quality dry food are limited and my vet said that the best of the bunch available to me here would be Royal Canin Indoor 21.

Max has been eating that with no problems for the last 2.5 yrs since we moved here. My issue came about when I noticed that they no longer carry Indoor 21 they carry Indoor Adult. I bought a bag assuming the same food - however he has had an upset stomach for quite a few days but not all the time, so I thought he was just adjusting to the new food.

I contacted someone at Royal Canin and they said all packaging would be changing to Indoor Adult and that the only differences between the two foods were:
Added brewers rice and corn
Took out dried egg product / regular rice

Neither of those things sound appealing and I was looking for some help / advice / tips on whether to stick with the food or try another brand. The only other options available to me while I am in Panama are:

Hills Science Diet
Royal Canin - but maybe another type ?

Anyone have any ideas ?

not the best choices. Try to get something as close to what he had as possible. Do they not have specialty dog stores?

"Brewers Rice....

Also appears in ingredient lists as ground Brewers Rice.

AAFCO: The small milled fragments of rice kernels that have been separated from the larger kernels of milled rice.

A processed rice product that is missing many of the nutrients contained in whole ground rice and brown rice. Contrary to what many pet food companies want to make you believe, this is not a high quality ingredient, just much cheaper than whole grain rice"
